Our Baking Story

During COVID and lockdowns in 2020, I, like most others, watched a lot of different TV shows to pass the time. The shows that seemed to interest me most were baking shows. They brought me a sense of stillness and peace during a very tumultuous time.

A particularly silly baking competition was released on Netflix called ‘Nailed It’ (if you haven't seen it, you need to check it out!). In this series I witnessed the joy and fun people had in just doing their best, regardless of the outcome. Eventually I began baking cakes and cupcakes and sharing them with friends. At first, everyone was just accepting them out of kindness. Eventually, people were excited to be gifted with special, tasty treats and the requests started pouring in!

Years later, in April of 2025, I was laid off from a corporate job. Though unexpected and stressful, it did not hurt nearly as much as losing my pet Gizmo the day just before. He was my best friend for 17 years. When Gizmo passed away, I began baking daily, searching again for the stillness it brings.

This time, I started

experimenting with cake

donuts. Baking brings me

calm and helps me process

life's trials. At this point in

my baking journey, I'm

hoping I can bring others

a sense of calm and joy

through these delicious and

freshly baked desserts.
